Fine looking English Arts and Crafts – Art Nouveau transferware vase by John Maddock & Sons Ltd.

The vase is signed on the bottom with the firm’s crowned circular mark for their top-of-the-line “ROYAL VITREOUS” ware, and below that a registry number and the pattern name “TRIUMPH”.

Height – 5.25″ (13.3 cm) / Width (at top) – 3.1″ (7.8 cm)
The body of this vase is decorated with a very beautiful and elegant design of repeating tulips, transfer-printed in red against the white ironstone soft-paste porcelain background. The shaped rim also has a tulip design running around it.

This piece looks very much like a Minton – Christopher Dresser art tile of the period and could have been influenced that style of British Arts and Crafts design.

This vase is quite rare and in . There is no damage or repairs to the piece. No chips, no hairlines, no restoration, and no scratches. Only light wear to the foot, as usual with a piece this age.

This item will be a museum quality addition to any collection of British Art Pottery, Staffordshire, or Ironstone and will display beautifully in any Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, Victorian or Edwardian decor.
