Here today for your bidding pleasure is my 1949 Dodge Wayfarer convertible. Literally dragged fresh from the barn, where it has been quietly resting for more than 15 years. I doubt you will be able to drive this one home until a few repairs are completed. It is,as they say “Rougher than a night in jail” My plan for this one was to find a Dakota or S10 chassis to put the body on. It is sort of a mid-sized car,so I think it would fit nicely on either. The good news is that the car is fairly complete with the original flathead six and “Fluid Drive” tranny. The stainless trim is all there except one of the lower rocker trim strips. The top frame is all there and moves up and down, but will need some of the rails straightened. The bottom 6″ or so of the car will need replacing as well as the floors and various other sheet metal parts. A spare trunk lid for a similar Chrysler product is included to cut patches from. The chrome is shot, but most of the stainless will clean up. The frame could be used, but is tweaked towards the back and is rusty also. The doors, trunk and hood all open, but may not latch. The side curtain frames are there.
The Wayfarer was a single bench seat basic coupe or convertible. The convertible came with side curtains like some sports cars of the time. This is a pretty rare, but very rough car. Would be excellent fodder for a old style rod. I don’t forsee any spare time for this project,so it’s time to pass it on to some one else. I really like this car,but I need to pay for some medical stuff, and my wife doesn’t dig the Appalacian Junkyard Look that our yard now has. I will assist in loading if you need. Also I should mention the right front wheel doesn’t like to roll, and tires only stay inflated for a little while. So are you confident in your skills? Do you have what it takes to bring her back to life? If so,bid, but be serious about buying, because I am serious about selling. Also included are two small wooden paddles,so your spouse can beat your A** Thanks for looking!
