Clinton ’61 Vintage Antique 3 1/4HP Engine NIB – Model 990-4125 21450 Kart Mini

This engine has been stored dry, in the original box, since new about 50 years ago. There is a date stamp on the box that is smeared but appears to say June 4 1961. If anyone knows the date of this engine for sure, please let me know, but I’m guessing that date is accurate. It’s a model 990-4125 21450 and the Serial # is 3907143. You can see these match on the engine and the box.
The condition is amazing. There is a little rust on top of the gas cap threads on the tank, and a tiny bit of rust in the tank, but barely any at all. The tank inside is mostly shiny and looks brand new like the rest of the engine. There are a couple of nicks on the recoil starter, but that’s about it. I turned it over a couple of revolutions to make sure it was free and had compression and it feels absolutely normal. I wouldn’t turn it over very much without putting some oil in the spark plug hole, and if you plan to run it, of course in the crankcase.
It comes with the original owner’s manual and you can see the separate air cleaner. You can tell the air cleaner has never been installed as the tip of the mounting screw is painted and the paint has not been disturbed. The tape over the carburetor has never been removed either.
I will ship the original box inside another box to protect the original labels and markings. It’s going to be around 45lbs. will be actual cost. The UPS calculator will give you an idea of the cost, but it will likely be less than what it shows and I will refund any overage. Fedex is typically cheaper than UPS, but I will ship whichever way is cheaper.
