the Rusty Propeller
This is an original Art Deco Saturn Lamp from the 1939 NY Worlds Fair. I bought it in pieces and brought it back to the condition you see in the photos. It is frosted glass with blue paint on the inside of stars and planets. The paint is peeling off in some areas as can be seen in photo 8. The plug I put on is a period correct bakelite plug (guess I should have taken a photo of that). I usually my pictures tell the story regarding condition, but the frosted glass made it very difficult to get good close ups of the flaws. There are a few scratches that seem to be easy to see with the naked eye when you look close, but there are no chips or cracks other than there very smallest around the hole for the finial. I did not put a finial on for the photos because I don’t have an original, or one that is even close. I have seen these lamps listed for sale as all original with cheap modern finials. I will let you decide what to do with that. I will take this lamp apart for shipping so if you think you need help or instruction on putting it back together please let me know and I will be glad to help. I can’t stress enough how important it is for you to ask questions regarding condition. Allthough this is a great looking piece and displays and works very well, it is not perfect and looks better in the photos than it really is. I just want happy customers, so have a very good look and ask questions.
Please use the photos as if you were holding the item for inspection. Most of my items are used, vintage, or antique so they will not be new. Condition can be subjective based on age and rareity. I make no attempts to over state somethings condition. I want the customer to be very happy when the item arrives, so please look over the pictures very carefully.
