An antique Waterbury Clock Company 8-Day time only ‘LYCEUM’ gallery clock with pendulum, circa early 1900’s. The movement is in good
working order, although I am selling this clock “AS IS”, with no implied guarantee or warranty. I have not cleaned this clock inside or
outside, it is in the same condition I received it in from an estate. The 12″ round metal dial is painted white with large black Roman
numerals. “MANUFACTURED BY WATERBURY CLOCK CO., U.S.A.” is also painted at the bottom of the dial. The paint has crackling throughout
but the paint is intact (no flecking or chipping). The is some streaking to the black paint (mostly at the numerals 5 through 8) from
people turning the hands over the years. The steel hands have the same pattern but the hour hand has a ‘blued’ finish and the minute
hand has a black painted finish. The brass movement has “Waterbury Clock Co., U.S.A.” stamped into the upper plate, also “7” and “88”.
The case is made from oak wood and has upper (pressed board) and lower scrollwork panels along with patterned molding around the door
perimeter. The case has been refinished at some time in the past, it is a good but not a great job. Looking closely there is a run on
the upper left side and in that same vicinity there is a small chip and split to the wood at the rear edge of the case. Please see the
12 detailed pictures. The rear of the case has two original labels attached, one has the model name and the other has the directions
for operating any of the different styles of Waterbury Clocks. There is also a manufacturers label inside the door on the bottom of the
case. All the labels are legible but have some paper loss and staining. The number “15” is stamped into the lower wood support block
inside the case. There is a brass latch on the front hinged door that houses the presumed original wavy glass which is in excellent
condition. The glass has reverse painted gold colored lines that create a border around the dial and door and all the area outside
the bezel perimeter is painted reverse painted black. There is a steel bracket on the top rear used to hang the clock on the wall and
a hole drilled into the back board to secure it to the wall with a screw so that once the clock leveled and the pendulum is in beat,
the case will not move when the door is opened to wind it (highly recommended!). A section of the triangular shaped inner upper wood
support block which secures the top board to the rear board is missing, does not effect the integrity of the case. The overall dimensions
are 25-7/8″ high X 17-1/2″ wide X 5″ deep. The clock comes with antique pendulum and key.
A wonderful clock looking to be the centerpiece of any room in your home for its next century of life!
Please ask before you bid. Thank You for looking and May God Bless.
