Spectacular large Victorian era watch fob in lustrous gold (GF) in perfect order – set with a large and lovely Amethyst stone.
This 100 year old plus fob adorned a Victorian era lady’s attire, and is very evocative of the era = over-the-top goldwork to the fob and embellished by a beautifully faceted stone (Amethyst or paste – I do not know), but it looks fabulous.
This is a large fob, and the depth of the colour of the Amethyst is highlighted by the facets. The base front is flat on the surface with faceted sides, and the upper side (within the goldwork) is faceted.
This fob would look great on a slide chain, or any chunky chain (chain in the photos is for demonstration only).
A truly lovely antique for today’s woman.

Gold fill is an sandwich of two layers of gold, with a base metal at the centre, laminated together. This thick, enduring form of gold has been extensively used in jewellery since the 1800’s.
