Description
This is a Wonderful Antique Victorian Steamer Trunk.

The Trunk is made of Wood, which is covered in Canvas, with a Waxed Finish.
The Trunk is Dome Topped, which meant it was originally owned by a member of high society, (the idea being that you paid extra for a dome topped trunk, which ensured that when your luggage traveled, it had no other trunks stacked upon the top)
With very Well detailed Metal Bindings and Straps, which are Studded.
The Metal Work has been Highly Polished, until it gleams.
With Lovely Beech Wooden Runners to the Top, and Front.
The Trunk has two Ornate Steel catches to the front, and a Lock, which is Brass and Gleams, really showing this trunk off to it’s best.
With a Swing Handle to each side, which are good and Strong.
Inside is the Original Removable Storage Tray, which has a divider which can be moved.
With Lots of Original Travel Labels, imagine the tales this trunk could tell !
Measuring 46.5cm tall, (18.3 inches), 40cm wide, (15.7 inches) and 67.5cm across, (26.5 inches)
Perfect to use as a Blanket Box, or similar, or just simply useful as a quirky storage item, it displays beautifully.
The Trunk retains the Original metal Strap to hold the lid safely open.
The Trunk is in Good Condition, with all the right character in the right places. There are some scuffs to the Canvas and marks and losses to the Metal. The Lining has some Marks, as to be expected with age.
The Trunk has a Good Patina, enhanced by the Wax Finish.
The Handles are good and Strong.
