Genuine Victorian parasol with original silk covering on outside and lining that would have been the fashion accessory of its era. Carved ox bone handle & shaft that has simple yet effective folding mechanism where it is held in place with a bit of silver metal that slides down to cover the bend. Entire length of shaft is ox bone, not just the handle. Carved ox bone tips on each point of the shade that are all present and still holding well. There is no finial at the top of the parasol yet the ox bone is threaded so one could be put on. The mechanism for fully opening the parasol / umbrella is in good working order and holds the silk quite taut. Very dainty size, just 18″ diameter when opened. Would be gorgeous restored but is equally lovely in its original state.
Dimensions approximately – handle 26″ long, shade 11 1/4″ from top to tip
