Antique Replica Bisque UFDC Historical Artist Singer Louisa James Cafferty Doll

Antique Replica Bisque UFDC Historical Artist Singer Louisa James Cafferty Doll

Antique

Although I have sold other copies of this doll before, this one is by far, the prettiest. Standing 12.5 inches, she has a porcelain-bisque shoulder head, a cloth body and upper arms and porcelain-bisque lower arms and legs. She was made by artist Jeanne Singer for the UFDC Region 14 conference in 1986. In excellent, scrupulously clean condition without odor or damage, she is Louisa Cafferty, daughter of the infamous portrait-painter, James H. Cafferty. Louisa is the subject of one of Cafferty’s most beloved paintings, titled; Portrait of a Young Girl. The portrait was done just before the Civil War, in 1850. A photo of a copy can be seen here;  http://www.jewelriverart.com/product/PORT9/PORTRAIT-OF-A-YOUNG-GIRL-by-James-H-Cafferty-FOLK-ART.html.  Dressed exactly as in the painting, the doll has a gorgeous hand-painted face. It is framed by her tidy, dark-brown molded hair, that is styled in sausage curls around her head. Obviously wealthy, she is decorated with molded jewelry that includes gold earrings, a choker necklace, two rings and a jeweled bracelet. If you love artist dolls, this one is an absolute must-have.
