13.5″ CLOSED MOUTH—French look, Mold #4– Bisquehead Doll/ Kid French Fashion body ca 1880-1886
This doll is a closed mouth bisque head shoulderhead with beautiful painting. She is marked 4 on BOTH head and shoulder.
She has the bulgy paperweight brown glass eyes of a French doll and she has the kid body of a French Fashion—but she does not have pierced ears.
Her bisque head is in with NO damages, or repairs; it has the open pate and slant of a French bisquehead doll.
Her head is marked only with a mold number #4# incised in the back of the head. NOTICE that she has, next to the mold number, a red “tick” mark typical of Jumeau dolls.
Her kid gusset body has a few minor carefully-done patches, and it has the typical lady- shape that Fashion dolls have. The body has kid arm and hands. The slightly turned bisque head and the shoulderplate are in very good condition, no hairlines, repairs or cracks.
The kid body has repairs but it is in good shape and does not have any leaks.
She has lovely brown set glass eyes with darker outer rims; her eyebrows are multi-stroke and very heavy– in the French style. She has pale bisque complexion and a closed mouth. Her wig is wavy bright auburn mohair.
CLOTHES: The doll wears an aqua silk dress with many black lace ruffles. It has a a tier of ruffles around the skirt hem. Dolly wears antique ivory leather shoes with sewn-on buckles . Her hat is typical of the period–a gathered black lace bonnet . It is a wonderful hat, and a splendid outfit!!
CONDITION: Very fine–no damage on the bisque, only a few inconspicuous mends to the kid body. She makes a wonderful presentation. Considering that German bisque dolls nearly always had MAKER’s marks, having NO MAKER’S MARK suggests that she is FRENCH….her eyebrows are in the French style; she has a pouty CLOSED mouth.
She has the slanted pate opening typical of French dolls, and her body is more like a French Fashion that a regular bisque doll. She would easily pass as an early French bisque LADY doll!!

If you are dissatisfied with your purchase,I will accept returns and I will send you a full refund minus shipping fees. However, if I have neglected to mention minor damage, I do not give a reduced price— I will only accept a return.
Returns/refunds accepted only if item has been grossly misdescribed or misrepresented. I make every attempt to describe honestly and accurately to the best of my ability all my items. In the unlikely event I have not done so, I refund bid price only: mailing cost goes to US Postal Service.
