Delightful pendant in wonderful undamaged condition c1900, comprising a short chain with T bar joining another short chain holding a translucent red carnelian intaglio.
The front of the carnelian is impressed with the outline of a Greek Goddess, and has a lovely gold surround and wirework setting off the stone. It is deep red but is translucent in light. The pendant measures 2.3cm x 2.4cms on a 4cm long chain, the T bar is on a shorter chain, and both connect to a swivel clasp, which makes it extremely easy to attach/detach, to wear on other chains.
The gold has been surface tested as at least 10ct 10k GF on an electronic tester. All is in extremely good condition, there are no nicks, chips or cracks nor dents. Maker’s mark HFB is on the clasp, for H F Barrows & Co., Nth. Attleboro, Mass., from 1851+.
The chain is an antique watch chain which has been extended by the addition of a very similar watch chain by two clips. This is all sympathetic and could be worn alone or with other pendants. The chain measures 50cm overall.
