antique georgian pinchbeck bracelet

antique georgian pinchbeck bracelet

antique
A fine example of an antique georgian pinchbeck bracelet. I would date this as around 1830 – 50.

The metal is probably pinchbeck.  It shows all the hallmarks of georgian craftsmanship; the mesh is made up of rows of plain rings, alternating with finely chased. The condition is excellent, with no sign of damage or wear.

The clasp is securely attached to the mesh and closes well.  It is a foliate design, reminiscent of the cannetille work of the earlier part of the century.

The bracelet measures 35mm wide x 180mm long, around 7 inches which is usual for a bracelet of this period.
