is an antique GAR Grand Army of The Republic Civil War Union veterans ribbon medal in very good condition considering the age. There is normal aged wear and patina to the piece. The only issue is a small 1/4″ tear in the flag ribbon where it attaches to the star medal, see photo. There is a number stamped on the star F12808. The pin bar is marked Pat. May 4. 1886. June 22. 1886. There is also a mark with a cauldron on a fire below the dates. The piece measures roughly 3 5/8″ long. The eagle pin bar measures 7/8″ x 1 1/2″ and the star is 1 3/4″ x 1 3/4″. and overall the piece is 24″ long. The piece displays very well. A great addition for your collection.
