Antique French Gilt Brass Corniche Case Carriage Clock By L’Epee c1890

This is for an antique French gilt brass  Corniche case carriage clock, by L’Epee, circa 1890. 

The gilt brass Corniche style case, is rectangular in form, with a hinged hexagonal section grip swan neck carrying handle, and four corner supports. The case has beveled glass panels on all four sides, with an oval beveled glass top, to view the action of the escapement. The clock has a white enamel dial, with blued steel spade hands, black Roman numberals for the hours, and baton minute markings. The clock has an eight day movement, with its original jewelled platform lever escapement. The case is stamped with the serial number ‘303’. The underside of the regulator is stamped ‘ALC’, and with the ‘crossed swords’ trademark of L’Epée, who received prestigious gold awards at various international exhibitions, including Paris in 1889 and 1900, Vienna in 1892 and Hanoi in 1902. 
The clock measures 107 mm in height, 81 mm in width and 63 mm in depth. The clock is complete with its key, and has its tooled leather covered travelling case, which is lined with red velvet, and has a hinged lid, and a sliding front door. The condition of the clock is generally excellent, without damage or repair, the movement is in excellent full working order, the travelling case is in fair condition, the leather has the patina of age.
