Sterling Silver Thistles Thimble
English
* Circa 1900s
This pretty
solid sterling thimble has applied thistles around the upper band. It
has British sterling hallmarks that are rubbed. I think they may be for
Chester 1904. The maker’s mark is also rubbed though all
of the thimbles I’ve seen in this pattern have been made by James Swann
& Son so this one probably was as well.
The condition is excellent, in round with crisp thistles and no holes,
needling or other damage.
It’s about an
American size 9 (16 mm diameter opening). A stone top version of
this thimble is shown on
p. 86 of Bridget McConnel’s
book The Story of the
Thimble.
I stand behind
everything that I offer and guarantee that it is exactly as
presented.
