Antique English Dutch French Sterling Silver Galleon Decorated Folding Traveling Fork Skewer 1880This wonderful 1880’s (hallmarked 1881 English Import Marks) Signed Silver Dutch or French Galleon Finial Decorated Folding Traveling Fork with Concealed Skewer is in absolutely amazing condition with no dents, damage or repairs at all.
The English Import Hallmarks and the Left facing Helmeted Soldier? Head are set amongst the Galleon and there is a further set of import marks to the rear of the fork prongs and another foreign hallmark to the front of the tongs (all well photographed).
The detail in the decorations is amazing and the folding and locking mechanism is equally as amazing. There is a screw mechanism to the Galleon finial and this reveals a kidded skewer.
I have never seen one of these folding forks and hence believe it is a very rare and collectable piece.??
