Antique Early 19th C. French Repousse Brass & MOP Opera Glasses w MOP Lorgnette

Antique Early 19th C. French Repousse Brass & MOP Opera Glasses w MOP Lorgnette

Antique This beatiful pair of very early opera glasses is in amazing shape, considering that it is approximately 170 years old.  There are no maker’s marks on this pair, but it is from approximately late 1820s and it is the ‘Par Brevet’ type.  The barrels are beautifully decorated with mother of pearl and brass repousse patterns.  Amazingly, the very fragile and delicate mother of pearl handle is still in one piece. The original holding case is included in this sale.  The magnifying mechanism works and all four lenses are clear.  This pair is still totally functional and would make a great addition to your opera glasses collection.  Please be sure to examine all of my photos very closely, as they are the main part of my description.Measurements in inches: 3.825 across, 1.75 (retracted) / 3.0 fully extended, 1.25 eyepiece, 1.375 object lens.
I will be listing some more antique French opera glasses, antique French clocks and clock parts, antique and vintage canes, estate meerschaum pipes, antique bronze candelabras, antique porcelain (Sevres), vintage and new high-end designer handbags and other collectibles over the next few weeks.
