This is an absolutely superb antique Continental .855 silver gilt filigree and enamel cigarette / card case.
Enamelled crests to both sides.
It is hallmarked and has been tested for silver (855).
The case measures: 8.5 cms x 6 cms
The case weighs 62 grams.
The filigree decoration with the gold gilt to the front and back is absolutely stunning and having enamelled crests to both faces.
As you can see this, this superb case opens up beautifully to also reveal a gold gilded interior.
This stunning spring loaded case has a ‘press in’ button to open it, this mechanism works perfectly and the case snaps shut perfectly.
Please observe photos, the internal geography of this beautiful piece would suggest that this is a holder for small cigar/cigarettes or could be used for business cards i suppose these days – the inside is quite unique
The case is in very good condition.The gold gilt has worn slightly in places as you would expect with an antique.
Please see pic 6 there is a very small split in the bottom right corner of the filigree.
Rich lustreous patina throughout.
