ANTIQUE CAST IRON TWOFUNCTION SAD IRON/CRIMPING (PLEATING) IRON PAT. 1879

ANTIQUE CAST IRON TWOFUNCTION SAD IRON/CRIMPING (PLEATING) IRON PAT. 1879

ANTIQUE

For
auction is this unusual sad iron. When the wire bail is secured, it functions
just like any sad iron. With the wire removed, however, fabric can be slid
through the crimping surfaces for pleating or to give an appearance similar to shirring
on a garment.

Condition
is excellent. Visible on one side is a patent date of February 28, 1879. This
was extremely difficult to image. We have uploaded one image and will be
attempting others.

The
iron measures about 7” (17.8  cm) tall
by  2 ½ ” ( 6.3 cm) wide.
