Antique Art Deco 18ct Solid Gold & Platinum Large Diamond Ring c1925
This is for an antique Art Deco 18ct solid gold and platinum large diamond ring, circa 1925.
The ring shank is made of 18ct yellow gold, and has sloping platinum shoulders, and a large platinum claw setting, set with a single large diamond. The diamond is very well cut, and measures 4.8 mm in diameter, with a table measurement of 2.8 mm, and has a good depth, with an estimated weight of 0.35 – 0.40 carat. The diamond has an excellent near colourless white hue, which I would grade around ‘D-E’, and has an good eye clean clarity, with two inclusions showing under a loupe, there are no chips, breaks, scratches or other blemishes. The inside of the ring shank is hallmarked ’18ct & PT’ to denote 18 carat solid gold and platinum. There is no makers mark. The inside diameter of the ring shank measures 16.9 mm, which is a UK size ‘M 1/2’ or US size ‘6 1/2’, this could of course be adjusted by a jeweller. The condition is generally very good, without damage or repair, the gold has a few surface marks, which is the patina of age. Please see images.
