Recently acquired is this antique Staffordshire blue and white transfer-printed cup plate (4 1/4†in diameter). It most likely dates to the first quarter of the 19th century, or possibly the second quarter. It has a floral border with repeated patterns. The interior scene shows a castle-like building in the background, some people on land in front of the castle, a river with a bridge over it and cows grazing in the foreground. I do not see any printed or incised maker’s marks on the back. On the back edge there are several small raised “bumps†in a straight line as if there was a name (last photo), but I think it is probably just a tiny imperfection that happens to appear in a straight line.  Therefore, I do not know the name of the pattern or the maker. Condition is generally good with light crazing to the glaze. There are two fine hairlines on the underside edge (see photo). I do not see them on the front, but sometimes it is hard to see them in the pattern. See my other listings for more items including another transfer ware item I expect to list soon.
