this beautiful & rare Ottoman marriage chest on stand. It dates from the 19thc. & it has the remainder of an old makers name inside it , unfortunately I cannot read it to give an exact country of origin.
It’s inlaid all over with exotic woods, cedar, holly, camphor, olive & mother of pearl. The inlay is beautifully executed & the proportions of the chest is lovely. It comes with its original stand ( in most cases this is missing ).
Sizes 54cms x 49 cms x 27.5cms inclding stand.
Some historic repairs : hinges & small portion at front & back of lid ( all shown in photos ) Very good condition for age. Superb patina.
A really wonderful work of Islamic artfound only in speciality antique shops or large auction houses.
