Up for bid is a recent Estate Auction find, an Antique SIGNED Ostby & Barton 1920’s Art Deco Roman Soldier Cameo Sterling Silver Men’s Ring. This HEAVY 10.4 Gram (0.37 Ounce) Over 1/3 Ounce Antique SIGNED Ostby & Barton 1920’s Art Deco Solid Sterling Silver Ring has a Fantastic 16x12mm Roman Soldier Cameo. This Cameo has great details and has been beautifully cast. The interior of the ring has a maker’s mark of “OB” which is the hallmark for Ostby & Barton an extremely collectible and sought after vintage brand. The business was established in 1879 by Englehart C. Ostby and Nathan B. Barton. (see historical information below) This is an Original SIGNED Ostby & Barton 1920’s Art Deco Ring not a copy or reproduction. This Solid Sterling Silver Setting has Beautiful Classic 1920’s Art Deco Architectural Details. This is a HEAVY and Substantial 10.4 Gram (0.37 Ounce) Over 1/3 Ounce Ring! The darker areas on the sides of the ring and in the crevices are the natural patina of the ring that only comes with age. We only lightly polished the ring and did not remove this patina. Aside from some detail wear this ring is otherwise in GOOD CONDITION and will arrive ready to wear

Ostby perished in the Titanic disaster while his daughter Helen made it to a lifeboat and survived. The company went on to become one of the most famous jewelry companies in the world. Ostby & Barton Jewelry is now an extremely collectible and highly sought after vintage brand.
Ring Size & Measurements: This ring is a size 8 1/2 and can be sized up or down by any competent jeweler. Ring dimensions are 24mm tall and 23mm wide. Ring rises 4.5mm from the finger. (1 inch = 25mm) 10.4 Grams (0.37 Ounce) Over 1/3 Ounce Total Weight
Silver: This ring is marked “Sterling” and tests as and is guaranteed to be Solid Sterling Silver. (Again this ring is guaranteed to be Solid Sterling Silver not plated or layered)

Regarding Ring Sizing: Be wary of any online seller that offers sizing of a ring before it is shipped to you. Due to differences in measuring devices and the way certain types of rings fit these rings should only be sized in person by your local jeweler. Sizing by your local jeweler is relatively inexpensive and you will have a ring that properly fits your finger. All size 9 rings are not the same. The ring may fit on a mandrel and measure as a size 9 but the way the ring is made, the way the ring has been enlarged or reduced, and the finger type you have may make it fit like an 8 or 10 or worse. Have your sizing done in person for a proper fit.

The tall measurement is the distance from the bottom or shank of the ring to the middle peak of the gemstone most easily measured when wearing the ring and placing the hand flat on the table and measuring the height of the ring from the table. The wide measurement is the width of the ring from outside to outside at the widest point when looking at the ring from the top. The rise from the finger measurement is the height of the ring from the finger to the peak of the gemstone when worn.
