This is an Antique 1800s
Amish Handmade Wood Dovetailed Valuables Document Box from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The Antique
Wooden Rectangular Box is made of Poplar and has a raised beveled carved Lid. The sides of the Amish Valuables Document Box
are joined by large triangular dovetails that surround the four sided box. The
Beveled lidded top is joined to the body of the box by original iron strap
hinges. The Antique Wooden Box rests upon a platform base. The bottom of the Amish Valuables Document Box
is attached by screw joinery and has been replaced over the generations. At some point time the Amish Valuables
Document Box had a lock to secure valuables. The Hardware lock is missing. The
antique wooden box shows the original drilled holes that most likely secured
the box tabletop. This would have been a security measure. The Amish Valuables
Document Box has an age appropriate patina and is in excellent strong condition. The Amish Valuables Document Box has been
cleaned and oiled with natural beeswax.
