This is a Dunlin in summer plumage done to a Dan Lake Leeds (1852-1922) style. This decoy is 9″ long by 2″ wide and is made from clear Atlantic White Cedar. Unpainted Ebony bill, relief carved wings, and mounted on a Mahogany base, it stands 7″ high. Signed: Anthony Hillman, 2012 Includes my “H” stamp. I cut out the blank for this over ten years ago and just rediscovered it. Finally finshed, the decoy is painted in oils and is carved similar to Leeds’ Black Bellied Plover pattern. He is known to have made Yellow Legs, Plover, Curlew, and Ruddy Turnstone shorebird decoys. If he had made a Dunlin, I suspect it would look like this.
