* One an Unusual Patented Steel Shuttle

* Circa 1860
One of these
nice antique tatting
shuttles is imprinted on the post “Burgess & Sons Patent”. It
is
made of steel (attracts a magnet) and is covered with black enamel.
It is riveted together and in with intact, touching
points and no wobble. I have seen this same style post signed by
Burgess with tartan ware patterns on the blades of the shuttle.
It measures
2 3/4″ by 5/8″.
The other
shuttle is hand
carved and has
a beautiful old patina and grain pattern.
It is also riveted. The
post has a crack but the condition is otherwise excellent, tight with
intact, touching points. It is 3 1/8″ by 5/8″. If you have
