This is being sold by me as a display item to go with your collection of old radios or vintage microphones – or just as a little sculptural piece in your Art Deco interior. There is no reason I suppose why it should not indeed work – as all the wiring etc seems to be present, and it looks just like the image on the remnant of the old box. The microphone is a Spring Suspended one, complete with transformer and light indicator and it says on the box that it is suitable for use with every radio. It was a jolly well expensive price back in the 1930s – coming in at 7/6 shillings – The name is a Aerialite and the main body section of made of dark black bakelite and enamelled steel –
An interesting collectable for the radio buff – the original box just about survives – but it in a very shabby condition – with only three sides of the top remaining – but very helpful in helping me identify this interesting old & quite early survivor.
A great film prop – if you need specialist interior decorative pieces…
