This handsome, antique character doll by Gebruder Heubach of Germany, dates to 1912. Manufactured with a bisque shoulder head, a sawdust-stuffed, gusseted leather body and bisque hands, the back of his head is incised; 5//GERMANY//6688. Standing about 17.5 inches tall, he is in without chips, cracks or repair to either his shoulder head or hands. Similarly, his body is also in with only a small stitched repair at the back of one leg. Although without significant damage, he does have two very small mold flaws (indentations) on the right side of his head near the hair. Moreover, there is a faint grey line on the right side of his mouth that (like the green dot (beneath the incised GERMANY) on the back shoulder plate), did not remove with soap and water. He is beautifully costumed in an antique brown jacket, brown velvet pants, antique red-and-white-striped stockings and nice oilcloth boots.
