Vintage Antique Faries Industrial Brass Lamp Machine Age Light Urban Loft Decor

Vintage

For your consideration is a circa 1910, FARIES No. 22 adjustable table lamp. The lamp is not signed, but I believe Faries was the only manufacturer of this style lamp. The lamp stands on a 5 3/4″  diameter base, a decorative stamped brass upper section and the outer portion being cast iron with much of its original black paint. The lamp adjust from 23″- 27″ tall, with the shade in a hanging position. The green cased glass lamp shade is in very good condition, measuring7″ in diameter X 5″ deep. The shade has no chips or cracks. The shade is held in place by an UNO fitter patented DEC. 24, 1912. The vintage brass “ARROW” paddle socket and is rated 250W 250V. The socket works fine and accepts a standard screw in bulb (bulb not included). The lamp has new cloth covered wiring and original two prong plug. The lamp was covered in a heavy coat of paint and has been stripped, with the beautiful brass showing a nice aged patina probably inherited long before the paint. The lamp has light scratches, tarnish and dings, which is age appropriate and add to the character of the piece.

The gentleman I purchased this lamp from said that it had belonged to his grandfather. The lamp sat on his desk as an auditor for the McKell Coal in the New River Gorge, West Virginia in the 1920’s. This region is claimed to have fueled the industrial revolution in the United States following the Civil War. Links are no longer allowed on website…there is enough info included here that you can do a search if you would like, there is much written on the people and history.

quote is to a street address in the lower 48 states. Thanks

Please take a look at my other auctions, I usually offer a nice selection of industrial themed items, lighting and of course the unique!
