LION

These are NOT the common Asian reproductions you see everywhere today. THESE ARE THE REAL DEAL!!  Giant, architectural, corbel brackets, weighing 40LBS each. They are circa 1860-1880. Hand carved from massive walnut timbers. The roaring, lion heads with flowing manes and teeth are simply works of art. They have 3 dimensional feathery wings everywhere. At the bottom, on bevelled bases, are knuckled paws with claws. They also have leafy spirals ending in ornate flowers. Particularly cool about hand carving are the unique nuances of the carver. You can see that most clearly in the feathery birds, each unique in their own way. Looking closely, it is also true of the lion heads and flowers. Each of these massive, gothic pieces measure approx. 44 1/2 inches tall, 22 inches wide, and 6 inches thick. They are remarkably complete for their age. The boards you see attached on one side of each, are easily unscrewed off. They once supported a seat. These can be shipped via Greyhound to your nearest station that accepts packages. No charge for box, handling, or packing materials. You pay ONLY $50 and I will pay the remainder. Pick-ups always welcome, just outside Chicago. Don’t let sneaky bidders out bid you in the last second! You will not get a second chance at these BEAUTIES! There is zero chance of huge timber carving like this having no age cracking. These 140 year old pieces are no exception. Use zoom option in viewing photos, and do not expect perfection. Having said that, only small chipping/dings otherwise. HIGHLY unlikely you can find a set in better overall condition. Many other antique architectural salvage items listed. All questions encouraged and answered.
