Offered for your consideration This No. 1A Pocket KODAK Series II Camera was designed and produced by the Kodak company between the years of 1923 – 1931. The camera was capable of taking twelve exposures, 2 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches on No. 116 roll film without reloading. Designed with a simple self erecting front and bed for quick set up. We are proud to present this collection of Antique and Vintage Cameras this week and in the coming weeks from the estate of a collector who preserved them with great care , there will be over 400 lots in all so be sure to check out all our auction lots. FACTS ABOUT KODAK: Kodak, a name synonymous with cameras and photography, introduced the first camera to the world in 1888, and founder, George Eastman trademarked the Kodak name. The name was Eastman’s idea, and he had no specific purpose or thing in mind when fashioning it, other than the letter K was his favorite, and he thought it to be a solid letter—he filled in the blanks between the two K’s. from the home to outer space, Kodak continues to generate innovative processes and equipment related to imaging. Eastman Kodak founded its research labs in 1912, making it one of the nation’s first industrial research laboratories., Kodachrome film was invented in the 1930s by classical musicians. In 1937, the first electronic scanner for graphic arts was developed in the Kodak labs. Kodak scientists invented the photoresist (a type of photosensitive resin later used to manufacture integrated circuits)., For the Apollo 11 mission, Kodak built the electronic camera that sent still pictures back from the moon in 1969, 1975 Steve Sasson built the first digital camera, In the 1997 Mars Surface Rover mission, Kodak image sensors captured close-up images of Mars, In 1986, Kodak developed the first practical megapixel CCD image sensor, In 1987, Kodak researchers invented OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) technology, In 1996, four Kodak engineers were named US “Inventors of the Year”., and Kodak designed the optics for the Chandra X-ray space telescope in 1999.
