(Lots of interesting information for you!)

1.) Small pocket size, yet thick book, titled “Church Services”

Leather with Brass protective edging around the front and back covers.

Gold gilded pages imprinted with a gorgeous pattern that can be admired when the book is closed.

The only date I could find is towards the back of the book, at the beginning of the Psalms of David.

The bottom of the page reads:

London: Printed by G.E. Eyre and W. Spottiswoode, Printers to the Queens Most Excellent Majesty. MDCCLIX (1859)

A few pages seem to be missing but the binding is in tact and in very good condition.

The original clasp to hold the book closed is missing.

No page numbers, so I do not know the number of pages. The print is very small.

Pencil marks and things written in pencil on the first page and a few other pages.

The inside back cover had something written in pen and looks like someone scartched it off.

Some bent pages and wear.

5″ x 3 1/4″ x 1 1/4″

2.) Small Pocket Sized Methodist Episcopal Hymnal Book

Black leather embossed cover. Good Binding.

Cincinnati Published by Swormstedt & Poe (corner of main and eighth street)

R.P Thompson Printer 1855

Gold gilded pages

5″ x 3 1/4″ x 1 1/4″

Outside shows wear and pages are spotted and stained. Something written in ink on first blank page.

3.) Very small German Book titled “Der Fromme Christ”  (The Devout Christian)

Leather with embossed gold cross, gold gilded pages and brass clasp which is intact.

Very clean and tight little book. Seems to have not been opened much at all.

One of the first pages reads: Imprimatur Monasterii , die 24, Aprilis 1888 Dr. Giese, Vicarius Generalis

The only writing in the book is on one of the first few pages and refers to:

Mary Reindl Born August 31 1867 and was buried in Delphos Ohio Sept 1933

4″ x 3″ x 1 /14″

4.) “The Book of Common Prayer and Administartion of the Sacraments and other Rights and Ceremonies of the Church”

“According to the use of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the United States of America”

The Church Pension Fund

Dated October 21, 1929.

Very good condition. No writing, rips or tears. Two pages bent at the bottom corners.

Black with red edged pages.

5 1/2″ x 4″ x 1″

5.) Another version of: “The Book of Common Prayer and Administartion of the Sacraments and other

Rights and Ceremonies of the Church”

“According to the use of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the United States of America”

Soft black leather, red shimmering page edges.

Gold cross on the cover.

New York Oxford University Press

1938

Good condition, no writing, bended pages, or rips. Some mild wear on first pages.

6.) Small black leather The Oxford Self Pronouncing Holy Bible.

Authorized King James Version.

Oxford University Press. London. Printed in Great Britain

This bible has some kind of light blue staining on many pages. It also has tape on some pages.

Seems to have seen a lot of use.

Binding is good, but cover is somewhat worn from reading.

7.) Large Revised Holy Bible Self Pronouncing Edition with References.

This Bible is VERY interesting because it has pictures of Egyptian Obelisks and all kinds of tablets etc from ancient history.

It even has pictures and captions of an Egyptian Pharoah, mummy, and coffin.

Very ragged and worn from so much use. The leather at the top of the binding is ripping off.

I cannot find a printing date but there is a hand written letter inside which is dated Dec 21 /19.

Pages are sticking out and the whole bible is very flimsy but it is nice to know that someone wore this bible out.

8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ x 2″

8.) Holman’s Self Pronouncing Red Letter Edition Holy Bible

This is also very worn, although the pages seem to be in better shape than the previous description.

No date that I can find. But these two large Bibles seem to be fairly old.

8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ x 1 3/4″
