Genuine antique watch chain fob, makes a statement – large and richly ornamented as you would expect of a gold fob from the Victorian era. This fob is in wonderful conditiion, no dents or scratches.
The old gold tested as 10-12ct kt gold fill (see below for explanation) with no wear that I can discern, some scuffing perhaps under magnification. Made to last and still lots of future ahead.
The watch fob measures 2.75cms x 2.2cms x 1.3cms at the base. The base has been inscribed in circular script that is very decorative, hard to read but is EES.
The top hook is attached to a swivel clasp, which allows the fob to be attached and detached easily, to wear on other chains, etc. Comes with a toning chunky link long chain which is not original, but suitable for everyday wear.

Gold fill is an sandwich of two layers of gold, with a base metal at the centre, laminated together. This thick, enduring form of gold has been extensively used in jewellery since the 1800’s.
A gold polishing cloth is great to keep your jewels nice and shiny.
