This is an Antique Early 1800s Wrought Iron Large Ladle or Dipper from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The Large Ladle has a very large and wide bowl for dipping. Often a ladle of this size was used to fill candle molds with hot wax for making candles. The Antique Early Ladle has a beautiful wrough handle with an overlapping pig tail for hanging. There are old rivets that join the large ladle to the handle. Inside of the large wrought bowl you can see hammer marks from it being hand hammered. The antique ladle is in with an age appropriate patina. The antique ladle was well used and loved. The Antique Early Hand Wrought Ladle measures 17 inches long. The antique bowl is 7 1/2 inches in width and 2 1/2 inches deep.
