HERE IS A REALLY COOL ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE 6 BOARD CHEST / TRUNK / BOX WITH A FOLK ART DRAWING ON THE BACK & DATED 1837
THE WOOD IS VERY THICK AND WIDE SHOWING THAT IT’S OLDER WOOD.
THE BOX IS CONSTRUCTED WITH OLD SQUARE HEAD NAILS. THERE IS AT LEAST ONE LATER SCREW REPLACING THE NAIL. THE HINGES MAY BE OF A LATER DATE, NOT SURE.

THERE ARE A FEW CONDITION ISSUES FROM AGE & USE SUCH AS SCRATCHES DINGS, BUMPS ETC. THERE IS ONE CORNER THAT HAS A SLIGHT WARP THAT SEPARATES AT THE JOINT ON THE SIDE AND THE LID HAS A LITTLE WARP THAT MAKES IT LIFT UP ON THE RIGHT SIDE (SEE PICTURES – BOTH ARE CLEARLY SHOWN). THIS COULD BE FIXED WITH SOME STEAM AND WEIGHTS. OVERALL IT IS A GREAT OLD PRIMITIVE TRUNK WITH SOME CONDITION ISSUES AS ONE WOULD EXPECT WITH A PIECE USED FOR OVER 150 YEARS.
THE TRUNK MEASURES 32 1/4 INCHES LONG, 15.5 INCHES WIDE (BACK TO FRONT), AND 16 5/8 – 17 1/8 INCHES TALL (VARIATION OF MEASUREMENT IS DUE TO THE WARPED LID). WEIGHS AROUND 45-50 POUNDS.
