Antique Primitive Staved Wooden Bucket & Cover, As Found 1800s Country Container

Antique Here’s a great-looking antique, staved, wooden bucket with fitted cover in very good condition. It’s completely untouched and just as we found it! It had been stashed away in an old barn for generations but it’s very well preserved and has that wonderful, old, original dry surface that we haven’t even cleaned. It dates back to the 19th Century and is made of pine with three forged iron bands that keep it tight and secure. Through the grungy patina you can see the beautiful color and graining this bucket has. The interior has a lighter, cleaner patina because it had been used to store edibles inside. It still even has some old dry beans inside!

As for measurements, this bucket stands 17 1/4 inches high and is graduated in shape, fatter at the bottom that it is as the top. The bottom has a diameter that measures about 10 1/4 inches and the top is about 8 inches across, handle of the cover not included. The bottom was carved to fit and is well-preserved and free of any rot. The entire piece is free of active woodworms, termites, and dry rot.

This old bucket weighs 7 pounds and is rugged, tight, and very solid. It has a folksy looking piggin (raised stave) with a hole where a rope or chain was used for carrying. There was a second that broke off long ago. It’s a wonderful, folksy looking item that can be very useful as well as decorative. It’s a good size to store recycleables, kindling, pet food, kids toys, potatoes, onions and much more but you’ll want to clean it first! Keep it original or wipe it down with orange oil/bees wax for a great look. Fantastic for the kitchen or just about anywhere else you want a touch of country charm, this old staved bucket will become the focal point of any room you choose to display it in. It sells without reserve to the highest bidder! Don’t miss out! Good luck!
