GE General Electric Whiz Brass Blade Antique Table Fan Restored “Nicest Ever”

GE General Electric Whiz Brass Blade Antique Table Fan Restored “Nicest Ever”

GE

If you prefer a more unique and contemporary look in your collection for an original fully detailed and restored GE Whiz fan, this is the first Whiz fan I have ever presented in this beautiful “Cranberry” color. This one will definitely stand out from the others and present itself nicely in any modern décor. This fan has been completely restored in every detail and is the Whiz model with the built-in on/off switch. This single speed, brass blade, non-oscillating model was produced in 1924 and may be one of the most popular GE models of its day. The blades have been removed and carefully repaired and re-riveted for smooth, true and quiet operation.

This fan has been totally disassembled and all originally painted parts sand blasted clean. Parts were then filed and sanded smooth prior to applying coats of epoxy 2-part automotive primer, sanded between coats. Then two coats of 2-part automotive urethane enamel in “Cranberry” have been applied followed by several coats of “Clear” and then rubbed out for a durable lustrous finish.

The old wiring has been replaced from head wire to line cord using “old style” cloth covered wire, soldered and heat shrunk to the stator, and a new antique style plug installed. The switch contact surfaces have also been cleaned for positive action. New rubber grommets replace all of the old original ones. All of the brass components including screws, oil reservoirs, nameplate and badge have been finely polished with clear coating applied for added protection. The brass fan blades are highly polished but can be clear-coated before shipment at the buyer’s request. The oil reservoirs have been cleaned with new wicking installed and filled with fresh oil to provide positive shaft lubrication. New beige felt to coordinate with the Cranberry color has been tightly applied to the base to protect table or furniture surfaces.

The brass blades measure 9-inches in diameter and the cage is 10 inches across. The base is 6 inches in diameter and the total height including the cage is approximately 12 inches. This fan weighs 6 pounds and will weigh 11 pounds once properly packed for safe shipment. As the cages on these Whiz models are fragile, the cage and blades will be removed for shipment and packed separately using bubble-wrap, blocked in and double boxed for safe delivery. I will provide insurance for the full sale amount and make sure your fan arrives safely as pictured. Reassembly is fairly simple but I will provide the buyer with detailed instructions to make sure.

Paypal payment is preferred and please allow 1-3 days after payment for packing and shipping. and tracking information will be provided. First time website buyers with no bidding history please contact me by email prior to bidding or your bid will be disqualified.  I will consider International bidders if I am contacted at least 1-2 days prior to the auction close to determine shipping costs, and, to confirm their payment will be paid only through Paypal.

Although I use high quality materials, best wiring practices, care and workmanship, I cannot be responsible for the design and safety of these fans, especially guarding, which is inherent in their early designs.

Thank you for reviewing my listing and please feel free to contact me if you have or comments about this fan.
