I have for auction this exquisite french antique babies christening gown found in a house clearance here in the South of France, it is pure white in colour and made of fine linen and muslin with a huge array of exceptional hand embroidery, it has been beautiful hand made and I would think it will date to the late 19th century. I have notice four very tiny and beautifully worked darns quite close together at the bottom of the gown, they are very hard to see as they are lost in the pretty embroidery, there are also the odd pin sized holes that really are only seen when held to the light, please see photo, so overall the christening gown is in very good condition for it’s age. The total length is approx 42″ or 1m07 from under arm to under arm is approx 10″ or 25.5cms. This stunning christening gown would be superb for use as a christening gown then a family heirloom or perfect for a very special antique doll, when only the very best will do!
