A good Patina is part of what makes antiques valuable and helps to date original pieces. So all our antique items may have some imperfections like small scratches, dents, candle or plate burns, soot discoloration from being in old houses warmed by open fires or burning coal.
This rating system is designed to rate the condition of pieces using the same standards used by museums to rate pieces based on the expected condition for an item of its age.
