Antique John Edwards Pocket Watch Sterling silver Case Key Wind Old Vintage Mens
The case is approximately 2 3/16 inches in diameter and the dial is 1 3/4 inches in diameter. The watch is easy to wind with the key and it runs. The dial is marked: JOHN EDWARDS LIVERPOOL 5489. The inside of the front case cover also has the number 5489 and the Lion Passant symbol (sterling silver). It has the symbol that would signify the year which looks like either a C or T so it is either 1858 or 1874. it also has a MH marking that could possibly be MARTIN HALL who was a well known London silversmith of that time period. The top ring knob also has the lion passant and year marking. The front case cover is somewhat wobbly and has a wear latch but the hinged crystal opens nicely with a strong latch. The loose piece in the photos is the latch for the back case cover so it opens freely. The inside of the back case cover and the inside of the movement cover have the same markings that include: 5489 MH 16 Lion Passant (Sterling), Fox Head (London) and the year marking. This watch could use a cleaning and a tune up but from what I can tell, it is all original and running so with a little effort you could have a fine addition for your collection from and uncommon watchmaker.
