Antique Japanese Samurai Sword EDO Tanto dagger in Koshirae w/t Ryu Dragon Motif
NO RESERVE
This is a GENUINE Edo Era Japanese sword, mounted in koshirae.
Blade: Blade: Beautiful thick and healthy blade. Polish has faded but the blade is still quite sharp. No chips, no cracks and no major kizu openings. There is one tiny nail catcher near the hamachi, a couple of tiny spots of oxidation, and minor scratches, but overall in very good condition. The true hamon is visible under the right angle of light, looks to be gunome, but the hada is quite hard to make out exactly. Kissaki tip intact, with a full boshi all the way around the tip. I could not remove the habaki without risking damage, so I have decided to leave it as it is.
Mei (Signature): Mumei (unsigned) o-suriage nakago. 1 meguki ana.
Fittings: Koshirae in . Saya looks to have been refurbished. Beautiful matching set of Ryu Dragon motif Edo period kurigata, tsuba, fuchi and matching set menuki completed by horn kashira – most of the shakudo and gold inlays are intact. Everything
fits together nice and tightly.
Tsuka (Handle): In good condition, wrapped with leather ito and covered by lacquer.
