Item Description; Lovely 1800’s Victorian mother of pearl, egg shaped sewing necessaire, most probably for a child. The set contains a pair of scissors, bodkin case, stilletto and replacement thimble. The bodkin needle is missing. The thimble came with the set, but there are holes and it is in poor order. Measures 3 & 3/8 inches by 2 inches approx.
Condition; The condition is reasonably good used antique order. The mother of pearl is in good order, apart from one small chip by the hinge. The tools have age related wear, I have not cleaned at all. The steel handles to the scissors are rusted and will not open easily. The thimble is worn/mishapen and has holes. Case closes, but it does not clip tight shut and sometimes pops open. A charming 1800’s childs necessaire. Please see photos.
