18K Solid Gold 34.7 mm Quarter Repeater Verge Fusee circa 1820 with silver dial and vitreous enamel flowers
A very small gold repeater with repeat on gongs from around 1810 – 1830 in good working condition. There are no makers marks anywhere on the dial or movement. The gold case is marked DFM 22751 and 18K with the Swiss chevron 18K gold hallmark.
Movement: Good quality, Key Wind, Key Set verge fusee, gilt movement runs fine, keeps time, begins running as soon as it is wound and runs all the way to the end of the chain. Movement is chain drive, quarter repeater on steel gongs, with 3 arm steel balance, pierced and carved balance cock, silver regulator disc and offset pinion type repeater regulating train.
Case: 18K solid gold case in very good condition with no dents, little wear and no monograms or personal engraving. Marked 18K. There are clear engine turnings and a blank cartouche on the back. Measures only 34.7 mm diameter. The original crown and bow are also solid gold. It has ribbed edge banding and a switch on the side at 11:00 to lock the repeat plunger if desired. The covers close correctly and the hinges are fine. Really in for being almost 200 years old.
Dial: Solid silver dial has pretty colored flowers in vitreous enamel (glass) good condition. Black painted hour index starting to fade some, but looks fine, see pictures. Clear plastic crystal in very good condition.
Hands: Blued steel hour and minute hands.
