This is an exquisite miniature painting depicting a parlor scene in the late 1700s-early 1900s. A young lady stands near a putti statue as she gazes at the gentleman on the couch. A little King Charles Spaniel is at her feet. The detail is wonderful and very fine. It appears to be a French scene and the artist signatures is to the bottom left hand side.
The frame appears to be of bone or natural and it has a beautiful floral design. The painting is in overall excellent/very good condition. There is a bit of waviness to it as I can see under the glass and I can see a tiny blemish, looking at the ladies bottom chin area. Very minor on display as you can see. Outer frame measures 4 3/4 inches by 5 1/2 inches and the portrait is approximately 4 inches by 3 1/4 inches. The back has writing that is very hard to make out.
