Description A lovely genuine antique Victorian solid silver long guard/muff chain measuring 44 inches in length and dating from around 1890. Beautiful belcher link chain, has a silver swivel/dog catch at either end.
Measurements Measures 44 inches (1115mm) in length
Weight Approx 34 grams.
Date No silver hallmarks on the chain as you would expect with a chain of this age and this type of link but is 100% guaranteed to be solid silver and a genuine antique example. One swivel catch has an old “S.S” hallmark denoting sterling silver and is guaranteed antique. The other swivel is unmarked but is also guaranteed antique silver.
Condition Good condition and ready to be worn. Has had a few solder repairs on the links over the years, there are a few replacement links and there are a few little splits on some of the links but nothing bad and all fairly normal and common on genuine silver guard chains of this age. Both silver swivel catches work fine, the large centre link, joining the 2 swivels is not silver.
