Antique Czech blue glass and brass, card holder or place card holder. The piece is small–just under 2 inches tall and just under 1 3/4 inches wide at the base. The blue glass piece is intaglio carved with a scene showing a winged nymph or cherub kneeling amid flowers. The brass filigree base has a place for a small card and what appear to be wells or settings where there may have been jewels or glass pieces decorating the piece. There are no markings on the bottom to indicate the origin of the piece but the style is almost certainly Czechoslovakian from the early part of the 1900’s.
Condition is very good. There is some minor corrosion along the border where the glass piece is fitted into the brass base. The base is slightly bent at the corners but could be adjusted. The piece sits flat and steady on a table.
