Paint Decorated Blanket Chest from New England circa
1800s. Diminutive Blanket Chests measure an average of 30 inches in length, while a regular sized antique blanket

Diminutive Blanket Chest that is Paint decorated with “The Best” traditional
Paint Color!  The Antique Painted Chest
has a blue green gray color.  Look
Closely as the photos are accurate.  The
antique original paint is time and age appropriate and has a time honored and
worn patina. New England Blanket Chests were common household items throughout
the 18th and 19th Centuries. Blanket Chests were made of a variety of hard
woods as well as pine and poplar. This Antique Chest is made of old New England
Pine. Notice the large knots and old grain on the inside of the Diminutive
Chest. The pine wood has darkened with age. The outside top of the Diminutive
Blanket Chest has bread board edged molding and the lidded top is attached by
original iron hinged hardware.  The sides
of the Diminutive Blanket Chest are joined by hand cut large dovetails that
must be viewed closely as the paint covers and hides the dovetails. The shoe
molding at the bottom of the chest is mitered with a beveled fine profile surrounds
three sides. The Antique New England Chest has the original lock and hardware,
but is missing the key.  The very bottom
of the antique Paint Decorated Diminutive Blanket Chest is shows  the large handmade early Square Nails.  This is a Beautiful Paint Decorated New
England Americana Treasure. The Antique New England Paint Decorated Chest is
made with fine detail and precision. 
This Antique Paint Decorated Chest is the perfect size, and one can only
imagine the uses and placement of this Early Antique Americana Primitive.
